Dr Kat studied at James Cook University in Townsville, graduating with a First-Class Honours Degree in Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery in 2007 and was a University Medallist for Academic Achievement. She went on to complete her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2015.

She established Upward Life Family Practice in 2022 as a Director and Principle GP and has gone on to create Kaleidoscope Clinic, a specific neurodiversity and gender diversity friendly clinic to meet needs in Far North Queensland.

Dr Kat maintains a higher tier of GP Mental Health skills training (known as Focussed Psychological Strategies) with Medicare, which can allow for the provision of GP-based mental health care beyond the basics.

She is a member of the RACGP, AADPA (Australian ADHD Professionals Association) and QLD ADHD GP Alliance. She is also a credentialed member of the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).
